Palm Garden Cafe (newly added)

Palm cafe is owned and operated by Chef Teresa Lobb, who’s from London and has been here for more than 10 years. Palm Cafe is known for their western cuisine and of course there are also other selections like oriental, vegetarian and kids’ menu available. I happened to be there for a breakfast appointment, and i really enjoyed the American Breakfast. I’m a mushroom lover, and I’ve yet eaten any pan-fried mushrooms for breakfast anywhere else here. They offer breakfast buffet too. If I’m not wrong, they cater breakfast for the Palm Garden Hotel guest as well. The cafe has a nice warm ambiance and it’s normally not too crowded. A peaceful place to catch-up with friends or to spend the morning.

Bello Cafe

‘Bello’ means beautiful, fine & smart in Italian. The interior of this cafe is indeed beautiful like a designer boutique that happens to serve food. It’s chic with black coloured walls which creates a fabulous ambiance around the gold, lime green and olive tones color theme. This place is famous for their most-loved “Melt-in-your-mouth Chocolate Lava Pudding” dessert, a heavenly warm chocolate dream, served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, guaranteed to satisfy any sweet tooth. Starters like Mushroom Soup, Chicken Ham and Avocado Melt, original local favourites such as Nasi Lemak Nyaman! and Simply Beef Rendang are also some other popular choices. They serve pastas and great coffees. Another favourite drink of mine would be the lychee lemongrass ice blended, which is really refreshing.

However, there’s a little downside for me after many visits, on the last one-two visits, the food ordered were served cold, and when requested to heat it up, the waitress actually plunge her five fingers into the bowl of fries, her way of testing the temperature. This is an ultimate turn-off, unacceptable. And i had to wait 20 mins for my Lava Pudding to be served on one occasion. A little improvement on having friendlier, more hygienic and more efficient staffs’ attitude would bring them a notch closer to perfection.

Country Patch Cafe

Country Patch Cafe has been around since 2008. It has since been crowded with patrons during breakfast every morning, especially on weekends. They are famous for their all-day breakfast menu. Offering wonderful options of pancakes, egg muffins, sausages, hash brown and many more. A great way to start the day. Country Patch is design with a cozy country-styled interior, making it a fantastic place to hang out with friends and family. Another plus point would be, they never failed to bring a smile to my face with their beautifully designed cappuccino at the Times outlet. Staffs are also warm and efficient. I personally refer going there during tea time, lesser crowd and the ambiance is perfect for a great coffee accompanied by a great book 🙂

Fleur-de-lys Bakshop

Fleur-de-lys Bakeshop just celebrated their 15th years anniversary here in Brunei. They started with few selections of cakes and drinks, and have since then expanded their menu with pastries, sandwiches, pastas, salads and desserts. Their macarons look beautifully delicious. Along with their anniversary, they are also launching 15 new products, from meat pies to new macaron flavours to drinks. Not only do they have a wide variety on their menu, they also sell Mlesna teas & gift products as well as gift cards and hampers (upon special request only).

Been there a couple of times, tried their breakfast and pastas. Egg benedict is still my choice so far!
